Frank Zappa was, of all the great musicians, that came to
prominence in the 60's and 70's era, my most favourite. I was
privileged to see and hear Frank play live at lest four times. He
even played twice in my home town of London Ontario Canada. At
one concert he had at Wonderland Gardens, an old 40's dance hall
type place, me and some friends had the privilege of meeting
Frank and presenting him with a basket of vegetable, we had
labled "Call Any Vegetable" Frank took the vegetables
to the stage for the second set and also let us get our picture
taken with him. He was a gracious and wonderful man and did not
snub us to our faces. Through his music he brought me many rich
memories and enjoyable journeys into a wild, weird, intelligent
and funny world of fantastically original music.

Zappa: Probably the biggest non-commercial influence on
rock music and otherwise to this day. An extremely talented
guitarist and composer, an outspoken satirist and philosopher,
and one of the greatest overall geniouses of our time. He did a
great deal for the music industry, and the music world would not
have been the same without him. All hail Zappa! AOL members can
visit the Frank Zappa chatroom (a member created A&E public
room) and discuss Zappa's works and exchange ideas and opinions.

I am lucky, I was raised in the SF bay area. I first saw
Zappa and the mothers of invention at the Fillmore in the 60s and
have been a fan ever since. I have seen every show the years he
played in Berkeley. I also saw him conduct the SF symphony. At 49
years old I still need a daily dose of Zappa music, as I type
this I am listening to Joes Garage. Thanks for the web page

Nice. If you could wire my head to a camera, I'd be happy
to share my March 3, 1988 attendance to Frank Zappa's show in
Chicago at the Auditorium Theatre. For a sample, whip out your
"Broadway the Hard Way" CD and find the track with
Sting (Murder by Numbers) I was there. (I remember the exact date
because, 1) I still have the ticket stub, and 2) That's the day
before my birthday. I also have the program and a t-shirt (which
still fits!) My buddy and I saw "The band from Utopia"
at the Cubby Bear in Chicago...tight as ever! I miss Chicago. I
miss Frank.

Caught 'You Are What You Is' tour in 1981, my friend had
been trying to get me to hear 'Uncle Meat'. Wow ! I was hooked !
I think I've got most US releases and I've certainly got enough
experience with this guy to know that he was the most completely
cool musical person on this planet that I've ever even heard
about. He was so goddamn smart, he constantly challenged society
with his satire and uncommon musical sense. There is no other God

ugly on the side !!!)

HEY! Loved the pix and all the Frank feedback. I missed a
Copenhagen show in 1980 because I couldn't talk my friends into
it-- Now I sorely regret not going alone. Listen to the music,
listen to the words. I did see Frank about 1986? speaking against
censorship in Lincoln NE. I'd love to trade bootlegs Anyone?

Thanks for giving other people the opportunity to see these
great pictures. What years were they shot? My guess is that #1 is
from the '79 tour or fall '78 (but I don't know if FZ played
Denmark in the fall of '78). #2 and #3 can be from some of the
concerts that FZ did in Denmark in February or March '76. Check
out Napoleon and also another person with a sort of a mask and
stuff that make one think of the subject of enemas (a routine
during the early '76 tour).

nice idea with this Zappa Homepage !!! How great it is to
discover that so many people share my respect for the best

No one has ever better mixed the sacred and the profane.
When history judges the composers of the latter half of the 20th
century, Zappa will be preeminent. Go back to Uncle Meat. Drink

Good job. A friend of mine was a Frank Zappa fanatic. He
and I were both stationed in Germany from 1978-1980. I believe
Frank had a concert in Saarbrucken (a city I hanged out alot) in

I was a founding member of Phi Zappa Krappa, a fraternity
we founded in 1971 at Wake Forest University. We felt it
necessary to put up resistance to the KA's and other straight
frats. I sorely miss FZ. I have originals of every LP, including
a rare copy of Freakout that was advertised in Batman comics! A
great underground way of getting to the youth of Amerika! I am
one of them.

Great pictures. Unfortunaltely I was too late at the ticket
stand to get tickets at the time, but later I have had the
pleasure hearing FZ on stage By the way, I do have almost every
official released record (Singles, LP's and CD's) released in The
US and Europe. BUT I've read somewhere, that "Broadway The
Hard Way" was released in Japan in black cover with at great
book"let" enclosed. Does someone know anything about
that?? And eventually want to sell it to me - then please e-mail
me, Thank you.
